The Burner is Dead – Long Live The Burner!

simmering

It’s been five years since The Burner first ignited.

Did you ever know why this site is called The Burner? This, from our very first post from 2009, explains it:

Ministry is hard. Church leadership is hard. Finding help and encouragement is hard. How easy is it to find something to keep your fire lit?

If it only takes a spark to get a fire going, then The Burner offers something hopefully to create that spark.

The Burner is easy, The Burner is warm and The Burner is here for you. The Burner, a new realization of the Lowell W. Berry Institute for Continuing Education in Ministry at Fuller Theological Seminary, provides the resources of Fuller for the benefit of the local church.

Sequestered in Academia are knowledge, wisdom and learning opportunities for those who in enroll in her programs. But we think Academia should share; in fact, we talked to her and she said it was okay. Well, at least Fuller’s share in Academia said okay. So here we go.

We want The Burner to be the first place you go for non-credit education and non-stop edification. You can expect resources to sustain you, guest bloggers to prompt and prod you and a warm place to share your thoughts. Because ministry is hard, and you need something to keep you warm.

You know, so soon all those around can warm up to your glowing.

Sincerely,

The Burner

And then we linked to this video, which was awesome.

But now it’s time for The Burner to diminish.

Don’t cry for us, blogosphere-a; the truth is we’ll never leave you. Fuller has started a blog on Patheos, and The Burner will be migrating to a column published on Fridays. The treasure trove of old Burner posts will still be available here on The (Back)Burner, simmering away for your education and edification.

I’ve loved running this blog and have fantastic memories. Now it’s time for a new chapter in Fuller online publishing.

Thanks to all who’ve read, commented and supported.

Sincerely,

David Moore, editor
